[Mother's Day (backdated, oops :D;;)]

May. 12th, 2008 | 04:28 pm

He brought the tray of pancakes - er, well they were meant to be pancakes, even if they were kind of irregularly shaped - and orange juice into the bedroom after knocking and making sure to wait to be told he could come in. Although luckily, Steve was already up and getting dressed in the little en-suite bathroom, so he got to present the, uh, carefully cooked breakfast to Rita by herself in bed. She laughed and rubbed the flour off his cheek with a handkerchief and thanked him, and even though she wasn't his real mother, he always thought that she would have laughed just like that, and eaten the burnt bits with just that kind of wry, 'oh, Garfield' smile, and so he was happy to sit there on the edge of her bed and grin as she fussed over his tangled hair.

And he was even happy, later, to run around the house as Steve chased him, yelling about the mess he'd left in the kitchen - "How did you get egg on the ceiling?!" - and who he thought was going to clean it up.

It was the closest thing to normal, real family he could remember.

[OOC - app post :3]

Apr. 9th, 2008 | 03:42 pm

NAME. Garfield Mark Logan
AGE & D.O.B. 15, 1992
GRADE. 10
GPA. 2.6
EXTRACURRICULARS. EPAC, track and field, Fall play, gymnastics.

DESCRIPTION. Garfield is around 5'4” and has a wiry build, mostly slender muscle although his face is still somewhat babyish. He has short, sandy blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin, and he usually wears a green hoodie and jeans outside of school, or sometimes a hideous Hawaiian shirt, for... no identifiable reason, he just likes them. Sometimes they are also green! It's a thing.
PICTURE BASE. Mitch Hewer.

PERSONALITY. Garfield is publicly very upbeat and cheerful, cracking (terrible) jokes, making (horrible) puns and flirting (blatantly) with anyone of the female persuasion as often as possible. He has a flair for the dramatic and ridiculous, and will often attempt to lighten any serious situation with humour, however groan-worthy. This outer appearance of cheerfulness is, however, mostly a defense mechanism. Gar is deeply traumatised, both by his parents' death, and his abuse at the hands of Galtry, and thus has a strong resentment towards and mistrust of adults, especially authority figures. This was improved somewhat by his interactions with Rita Farr, but since he really doesn't talk about any of it, this may be hard to notice. He's taken a liking to acting thanks to the influence of Rita, and has had a love of animals since childhood thanks to his biological parents.

HISTORY. When their son was about six years old, Mark and Marie Logan traveled to Africa to research rare species of animals and related diseases, taking Garfield along with them and working alongside Doctor Register. The toddler was, as most sane people would expect, somewhat of a bother in the lab, annoying Doctor Register and his parents by breaking vials of chemicals and so on. This is why his parents thought it would be an excellent idea to let him play outside alone and stay out of their hair. Amazingly he didn't die, but it was a close call since he was bitten by a rare species of monkey and fell dangerously ill. After he was cured, his parents decided that maybe they should send him back to America to stay with his uncle and aunt whilst they continued their research. This turned out to be a good decision when they were killed a year or so later in a flood caused by a monsoon. Legal care of Gar passed to Nicholas Galtry, who collected him from his uncle and aunt to live with him in a large house at the other end of the country. Still grieving the loss of his parents, young Gar was in for another shock as Galtry treated him poorly, having him stay in a cramped and barely furnished room, providing scant food, clothing or education, and being excessively harsh on him to the point of physical beatings. In fact, Galtry was embezzling money from Gar's trust fund, and saw the boy as an obstacle between him and filthy riches. This eventually lead to him plotting to kill Gar and claim the money for his own. If it weren't for having met Rita Farr, Steve Dayton and their friends on one of his sneaky trips into town, Gar may well have fallen prey to an assassination attempt. Luckily for him, he befriended the group of kooky inventors and thespians, and they were intrigued enough to investigate and discover Galtry's plot before it was too late. Rita Farr and Steve Dayton, who were recently married, decided to adopt Gar, and Galtry was sent to jail. Rita and Steve decided to try and help Gar with his grieviously lacking education by sending him to St Jude's and getting him private tutoring on the weekends, although he's not exactly appreciative of all the extra hassle this entails.

FAMILY. Mark Logan, father (deceased). Marie Logan, mother (deceased). Clyde Logan, paternal uncle. Bonnie Logan, aunt. Matt Logan, cousin. Nicholas Galtry, ex-legal guardian (incarcerated). Rita Farr, mother (adoptive). Steve Dayton, father (adoptive).

OTHER. Ever since the monkey bite sickness, Gar has had occasional bouts of fever-like dreams featuring the jungle and animals. He doesn't think of them as anything significant, since they rarely occur. Animals like him quite a bit – stray cats or dogs may follow him home, pigeons may decide to perch on his shoulder if he's sitting or standing still, etc. There may be a potential for this to develop into a more concrete communication or control, but why the heck would he even consider that?
